3 Mountains goes beyond Fair Trade. In addition to paying a premium for the tea in Rwanda, our company is the primary sponsor of Sustain, a program designed by the nonprofit organization Africa Healing Exchange. We provide entrepreneurship training, mentorship and seed funding for promising startups solving problems related to food insecurity, poverty, climate resilience and gender based violence in regions where we work. We also are leading the regenerative tea growing movement and believe that tea can help to heal our planet.

How We Began

Our founder, Sara Delaney, delivers a Ted Talk titled “It Takes a Village: How Community is the Antidote to Despair”. She digs deep and shares her personal story about how the people of Rwanda saved her life twenty years ago. In this 15 minute video you will learn more about how 3 Mountains came to be and how this initiative is about more than tea. We are on a mission to end violence against women and to create new wealth and generational change.
